The Future of XPS Foam

Research and Development Guides XPS Manufacturers Toward the Next Generation of Foam Insulation

In their constant process of product improvement, XPS manufacturers have developed new flame retardants for use in foam insulation. These alternatives have been evaluated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Design for Environment Program, and have now replaced HBCDs as the flame retardants of choice for XPS foam manufacturers. This new generation of flame retardants has already led to better environmental, health, and product safety performance.

XPS manufacturers will continue to search for innovative ways to improve the value, performance, and sustainability of their products in the future. As a premium insulation product, XPS will continue to represent the cutting edge of insulation technology for modern construction purposes.
