Building Performance

XPS foam insulation is used in a wide variety of residential and commercial applications. The insulation is easy to install and maintain. There are several types of XPS insulation board, insulating sheathing and fanfold siding underlayments that can be installed directly over existing siding. These products offer the following features and benefits:

  • Rigid—offers a flat, level substrate for new siding
  • High R-value (thermal resistance)—saves energy and dollars
  • Air resistance—helps reduce draftiness in rooms, maintains better temperature control and saves dollars on heating bills
  • Moisture resistance—minimal water absorption that helps maintain thermal efficiency in wet conditions
  • Lightweight, easy to handle
  • Durable—less breakage at the job site saves time and money
  • Energy Star® qualified and manufactured by dependable, reputable companies

Other Applications

XPS foam insulation can even be used beyond commercial, industrial, and residential structures. Due to its excellent resistance to moisture, imperviousness to rot, mildew and corrosion, controlled compressive strength, and ability to maintain insulating power, XPS insulation is a premiere insulating material for critical civil engineering uses as well. Other applications include pipe insulation, marine use, floral and arts and crafts, utility lines, and agricultural uses. Finally, XPS can be used as Geofoam and applied as insulation beneath highways or airport runways.
